Nutrition Myth: Carbs Are Bad.

21 Nutrition Myths for 2021πŸ€“ Myth #2 Carbs Are Bad

Carbs are not bad for you. Plan and simple. However, many people have a false belief of this due to popular misinformation on the glycemic index and insulin model of obesity.

The vast majority of data now shows low glycemic diets, compared to high glycemic diets, have little to no effect on metabolic syndrome factors. (Systematic reviews & meta analysis 2017 & 2018 Am J Clin Nutr)

Now repeat after me. INSULIN DOES NOT CAUSE OBESITY. If it did, PROTEIN WOULD ALSO CAUSE YOU TO BE FAT. Little know fact, beef actually causes the same insulin secretion as bread and fish also produces the same secretion as rice (Holt et al 97)

More importantly, if weight loss is your goal, the most important factor will always be the laws of thermodynamics, energy balance and maintaining a caloric deficit.
