Why cardio feels like torture?!

There’s a reason cardio feels like torture ☠️

The word cardio is usually followed by “I hate it” or “it feels like torture.” If this sounds like you there’s actually a good reason for that.

Treadmills were originally created in the 1800s to punish prisoners of Victorian England in attempt to reform them.

It’s original concept was more akin to the modern stair stepper with 24 spokes that required constant steps up or they would fall off.

Additionally, these treadmills were used to move water, grains and power mills. Hence the name treadmill.

The average treadmill shift lasted about 6 hours where they would climb the equivalent of half of Mount Everest! That means they would literally climb the equivalent of 3 Mount Everest’s per week!

Eventually, in 1898 treadmills would be banned due to excess death and injury of prisoners being ruled as cruel and usually punishment!

So next time doing 20 minutes or cardio seems like too much, just be thankful you can actually get off when you like.

Getting 10,000 steps a day doesn’t seem so bad now huh Noahjobin.com
