A good question, but a better question to ask is, “how much protein to I need to achieve my specific goals.”

We all have different goals. That means the answer to your question will change based on your desired out come.

Here are the recommendations on protein intake based on health, endurance sports, strength training/surplus and resistance training/deficit, that is supported by the International Society of Sports Nutrition.

Basic health needs - .8-1.2g per kg body weight

Endurance sports - 1.2-1.5g per kg body weight

Strength/power lifting - 1.6-2.2 per kg body weight

Resistance training/deficit- 2.3-3.0g per kg body weight
