How To Set Goals Effectively.

🥇 How to set goals properly 🥇

We sets goals every year, but so few actually achieve them. Setting goals is great, however, how you prioritize them can have a tremendous influence on achieving them or not.

Outcome goals are usually about winning or losing. However, for exercise, it’s usually seen as the end result of behavior.

Performance goals specifies the end product of performance, but is usually expressed in terms of personal achievement.

While Process goal focuses on the processes an individual wants to engage to perform in a satisfactory manner.

Outcome goals are a good idea, but they shouldn’t be the main focus. They are a variable we can’t control for. Instead, the focus should be on performance and process goals, as we can actually control these factors to reach the desired outcome.

Additionally, we should refrain from subjective, non specific, easy and unquantifiable or “do you best” goals. Strive for specific, challenging, performance and process goals measured in both the short term and long term.

50 years worth of research on goal setting found that effective goal setters—those who focused on process and performance goals as opposed to outcome goals, as well as those who developed specific action plans—not only enjoyed a specific behavior more, were less anxious, more confident,

and perform significantly better under stress. The more individuals focus on winning the less likely they are to win because they put too much pressure on themselves and others. It sounds counterintuitive, but focusing goals on the process

of performance as opposed to the outcome reduces tension, improves concentration, and typically results in enhanced performance.
