What Are Comorbidities?

Obesity is linked to several diseases that are often referred to as comorbidities. These health complications and problems are found in combination with being overweight or obese. It’s important to understand that the following conditions are not only linked with being overweight but with oftentimes with each other as well. As a Certified Weight Loss specialist i have training and education in understanding these diseases because the medical community often recommends tandem lifestyle modifications in diet and regular exercise.

Some of the most common comorbidities are Type 2 Diabetes, Heart Disease, Hypertension, Stroke, Respiratory complications, Cancers, Dyslipidemia, Metabolic Syndrome, Musculoskeletal issues and Depression.

when one or more of these health issues occurs, a diagnosis by your physician, followed by an individual treatment plan of diet and exercise with a weight loss specialist as set by the guidelines of the National Academy of Sports Medicine and American College of Sports Medicine, is the best approach. Pharmacology and RD aid is also recommended.
