It’s something many women take very seriously, but have you ever asked if theres a better way to train? Thankfully, A recent study in the Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research, has an answer for us. (Oliveira Junior et al)
Women were broken into two groups, trained twice a week, to failure, at either 12 sets or 24 weekly. The exercises performed were the leg press, leg extensions, leg curls and calves raises.
The results, lean mass growth was double in the high volume group! Although quad muscle development was significantly increased, unfortunately the same can not be said for strength development, as there was no significant differences.
