Eggs constantly have the stigma of causing cancer and being bad for you because of their cholesterol. However, don’t let the dogma fool you as this is just another nutrition myth.
A recent 2020 longitudinal study (Pan Zhuang et al Clin Nutr) with nearly 19,000 participants examining associations between egg and cholesterol intake and all-cause mortality over 24 years, IS NOT associated with Cardiovascular Disease.
Additionally, After adjusting for participant characteristics (including BMI, energy intake, diet quality, and demographic factors), participants in the highest quintile of egg intake had 31% lower mortality than those in the lowest quintile.
In contrast, participants in the highest quintile of non-egg-based cholesterol intake had 39% increased mortality relative to the lowest quintile.
